Create a giant balloon number

Balloons make such great decor for a birthday party, simple to find, easy to use and on top of that, super fun! At The Fun Master we love them!
Today, we would like to introduce you to a DYI from Alison Piepmeyer & Naomi Julia Satake. It’s an original way to create an outstanding decoration for a kid’s birthday party. The way they created the giant balloon number is quite clever and easy to do. Instead of using wire or glue to make the structure very stable, they used strong gaffer, and it works perfectly well.

How to create a giant birthday party decoration

Steps for creating giant balloon number

Step 1: Connect your projector

You don’t have to use a projector so if you don’t have one or if you don’t want to use one you can skip this step  but it really helps to draw proportionally and save your some time. For this step all you need to do is to connect your computer to the projector. Then project the number font you want to use onto the wall. The font used by Alison Piepmeyer & Naomi Julia Satake is Super Clarendon but you can use any one you’d like.

Step 2: drawn the digit

Lightly trace the number on the wall with pencil so you can erase it when you take the installation down.

Step 3: Bow up the balloons

Here is the fun part! Blow up balloons in lots of different sizes. But you want to stay consistant so don’t do more than 3 or 4 different size. For the shape, you want to keep then as round as possible.

Pro tip: don’t blow then up all the way.

Step 4: Attach the balloons

Attach the tails of the balloons to the wall with gaffer’s tape. Start with the bigger balloons in the middle, and fill in the holes with mini balloons. You can also layer balloons on top so the wall doesn’t show through. Just roll up a small piece of tape, and tape it right onto the other balloons.

And voilà! You have an original decoration for your kid’s birthday party.
